AVA’s Resident Artists are selected after a rigorous audition process from a pool of international talent, standing out for remarkable technical skills, artistic potential, and unwavering commitment to their craft. “The Academy of Vocal Arts is proud to welcome this talented group of 10 incoming Resident Artists. This year’s large class highlights our institution’s growth and reaffirms our commitment to opera and its future,” said AVA’s President, Scott Guzielek. “We are dedicated to providing our Resident Artists with the highest level of training possible, helping to ensure that opera continues to thrive and inspire audiences around the world.”

Resident Artists are immersed in a comprehensive four-year program. The curriculum is robust, covering vocal repertoire, languages, acting, and stagecraft, alongside roles in AVA’s fully staged opera productions, recitals, and concerts. This holistic training approach ensures that each Resident Artist masters their vocal abilities and develops a deep understanding of the nuances of operatic performance.

This year, AVA embarks on its 90th Anniversary Season, a milestone that underscores the academy’s enduring legacy as a premier institution for training opera singers. The new class will launch the 90th Anniversary Season with their AVA debut at the New Artist Recital. Each new Resident Artist will be featured in solo performances, with Musical Direction and Accompaniment by José Meléndez.
