A Trip to the Met: Angela Meade in Maria Stuarda
Sunday, December 6, 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Travel to Lincoln Center for Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda, starring the magnificent Angela Meade (AVA ’09) as Queen Elizabeth I in one of the most thrilling diva showdowns in all of opera.
Join President and Artistic Director Scott Guzielek and fellow opera lovers for a memorable day in New York City celebrating one of AVA’s own. We’ll depart from AVA aboard a comfortable chartered coach, where Director of Advancement Michael Bolton will offer an engaging introduction to Maria Stuarda, exploring the fascinating history behind Donizetti’s masterpiece and the legendary rivalry between Mary, Queen of Scots and Queen Elizabeth I.
Upon arrival, you’ll have free time to enjoy lunch or browse the city’s shops before taking your seat for David McVicar’s iconic Metropolitan Opera production—a visually stunning, emotionally gripping interpretation of this bel canto masterpiece.
We’ll cap off this unforgettable day with a delicious post-performance dinner in New York City, where we’ll be joined by Angela Meade herself. It’s a unique opportunity to celebrate one of AVA’s most distinguished alumni, reflect on the performance, and enjoy an evening of conversation with one of today’s leading dramatic sopranos.
From an illuminating pre-performance talk to a spectacular Metropolitan Opera performance and dinner with one of AVA’s brightest stars, this is a wonderful opportunity to experience great opera while celebrating the Academy’s remarkable legacy. Best of all, your participation helps support AVA’s mission of training the next generation of opera’s greatest voices.
