Julianna Smith, mezzo-soprano, earned a Master of Music degree at Northwestern University where she appeared as Dorabella in Così fan tutte, Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel, Ruggiero in Alcina, and Zweite Dame in Die Zauberflöte. This summer, Ms. Smith will cover Hänsel and perform as a Valkyrie in Act III of Die Walküre at the Aspen Music Festival. Smith was previously a vocal fellow of the Manetti Shrem Opera Program and a studio artist with Opera Neo. She received Encouragement Awards from the Kansas City District of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition and the Camille Coloratura Awards and placed third in the Grand Concours Vocal Competition. Smith is from Towson, Maryland and holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Maryland.
