Stage Director: Tito Capobianco
Conductor: Christofer Macatsoris
November 5–20, 2016
Verdi’s 16th opera tells the tragic story of Rigoletto, humpbacked jester to the Duke of Mantua. His service of the Duke includes obtaining young women for the Duke to seduce, for which he is cursed by the father of one of the Duke’s conquests. The curse terrifies Rigoletto, who later sees it come to fruition as the Duke sets his sights on the jester’s own daughter.
Maestro Macatsoris and Stage Director Capobianco discuss our 2016 production and introduce the cast(s).
Rigoletto, includes one of opera’s most popular and well-known arias – the Duke of Mantua’s La donna è mobile – as well as one of the most brilliant soprano arias, Caro nome.
