The Academy of Vocal Arts proudly congratulates alumnus Cumhur Görgün (’26) on being named the recipient of the 2026 Manetti Shrem Opera Prize, one of the opera world’s most prestigious honors for emerging artists.
Awarded annually to an exceptional young singer, the Manetti Shrem Opera Prize recognizes extraordinary vocal achievement and artistic promise. Görgün’s selection is the latest milestone in a remarkable season that has seen the Turkish bass-baritone earn recognition for his commanding stage presence, rich vocal artistry, and compelling performances.
During his time at AVA, Görgün distinguished himself as one of the Academy’s most versatile and accomplished Resident Artists.
