Alex Mathews, baritone, received his diploma in operatic performance from the University of Toronto where he performed the roles of Figaro in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Count Gil in Il segreto di Susanna. At the Chautauqua Institution he performed Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro and Elviro in Serse. His awards include Canadian Opera Company Ensemble Studio Competition – Finalist (2022), Atelier Lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal – Finalist (2021), Detroit (Michigan Opera Theatre) Opera Resident Artist Program – Finalist (2022), and Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques (2021).
