Join us as we bid farewell to our graduating Resident Artists, Pascale Spinney and Daniel Gallegos! Airing on AVA’s YouTube Channel on Saturday, May 8, 2021. The Farewell Recital will be available to stream from Saturday, May 8th at 7:30pm through Wednesday, May 12th at 11:59pm. This is a free virtual recital, donations are encouraged.

The Graduates

Pascale Spinney (mezzo-soprano) is from Montréal, Québec. She earned a B.M. and M.M. both from McGill University. She was a finalist in the 2018 Meistersinger competition in Graz, Austria; and a 2017 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions National Semi-Finalist. She was the recipient of an Encouragement Award from the Gerda Lissner Foundation in 2018; of the Jeunesses Musicales du Canada Bursary and the Mrs. Edgar Tobin National Award in 2017; and of the Vancouver Opera Foundation Kurt Sickert Scholarship in 2016. At AVA, she has sung Leonore in La favorite, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Turnspit in Rusalka, Una Novizia/Suor Infermiera in Suor Angelica, and Flora in La traviata. Other roles include Ruggiero (cover) in Alcina and Clairon (cover) in Capriccio at Santa Fe Opera; Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro and Hansel in Hansel and Gretel with Vancouver Opera; and Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with Opéra de Montréal.

Daniel Gallegos (baritone) is from Chihuahua, Mexico. He studied at Conservatorio de Música de Chihuahua, Taller de Ópera de Sinaloa and Sociedad Internacional de Valores al Arte Mexicano. In 2019, he was a finalist in the Meistersinger Competition in Graz, Austria, and a 2021 District Winner in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. At AVA, he has sung Mercutio/Grégoire in Roméo et Juliette, Alphonse XI in La favorite, Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, Guglielmo in Le Villi, Lackey and Harlequin in Ariadne auf Naxos, and Donner in Das Rheingold. Previous roles include Silvio in Pagliacci; Mr. Nohlan in The Medium; Baron Douphol in La traviata; Betto in Gianni Schicchi and Papageno in Die Zauberflöte.
