The Academy of Vocal Arts is pleased to accept gifts of publicly traded stocks & bonds. Contributing securities can offer you some significant income tax benefits, particularly if the securities donated are highly appreciated over the cost basis. Making a gift of long-term appreciated stock enables you to deduct the full market value of the stock without incurring capital gains tax on the appreciated portion of its value.

Joining the Helen Corning Warden Society is as easy as adding a simple addendum to your will or naming AVA as a beneficiary of your IRA or 401(k). As a Member, you’ll receive invitations to special events that will allow you to see firsthand the impact of your contribution on AVA’s continued artistic growth, be recognized in name on a bronze plaque at AVA headquarters, and within all performance programs.
If you have made gifts to a donor-advised fund, such as the Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund, National Philanthropic Trust, the Schwab Charitable Fund, or Vanguard Charitable Endowment Program, you can direct grants AVA. Please make your requests by December 15 so they are received before December 31.
Consider utilizing your required minimum distribution (RMD) to support AVA. If you are 70.5 years or older, you can make a tax-free distribution from your IRA to AVA.
Many companies sponsor matching gift programs that will match contributions made to AVA by their employees. Check with your employer about their matching gift program.

The Pennsylvania Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) programs allow businesses and individuals to utilize their PA tax liability to provide scholarships to income-qualifying students. A company or individual LLC paying PA taxes can get up to a 90% state tax credit for contributions made to state-approved organizations. AVA is approved to receive 2023 contributions.
The AVA Opera Outreach Program is eligible to receive individual contributions made through the United Way Specific Care Program. AVA supporters who give to the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania through their employers can also direct their United Way contributions to the the Academy of Vocal Arts. All you need to do is complete the top portion of your United Way form, then find the line for SPECIFIC CARE and enter our code #3164, the amount of your gift, and our eligible Agency name: the Academy of Vocal Arts Opera Outreach.
